The HOP gallery announces that the “DUU” exhibition featuring Piret Hirve and Eve Margus-Villems is open from Friday October 10, 2014 to Wednesday October 29, 2014. Piret Hirv and Eve Margus-Villems are noted artists and teachers of jewelry and Blacksmithing (Metalwork) at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
The artists were inspired to launch the exhibition last year, when they were in Iceland, where fire, wind, water and rocks are used to capture every moment of space and time.
DÜÜ metaphorically entails time stored in a Bog. One fifth of Estonia’s land is covered with bogs. The formation of marshes began shortly after the retreat of glacial ice allowing for the beginning of human settlement.
We can only imagine that the marshes hide the magical secrets and mysteries of humanity.
It is said that the Estonian spirit has roots deep within the bogs, but only sprouts and flourishes in the free air upon the surface.
The exhibition is supported by AS Tootsi Turvas.
Hop Gallery is open 11:00 to 18:00 from Thursday – Tuesday.
Location Hobusepea 2, Tallinn. Admission is free
